For the past 18 months, Claire Cunningham has been chairing the IT Forum on behalf of Monaghan County Council. The forum was set up with 5 other fora to bring together interested parties, around particular areas of development in Monaghan. The Monaghan IT Forum has 10 members and works to promote awareness & development in IT in County Monaghan. We are currently finalising the details of our conference ‘Exploiting the Potential of IT – A Monaghan Perspective’ which will be held on the 9th of May, in the Glencarn Hotel. The conference will be launched by Minister of State Fergus O’Dowd. And we will be circulating details next week. As part of the conference there is an opportunity for IT companies working/or providing services in Monaghan to take a trade stand, free of charge. If you or your company is interested in taking a stand contact myself at services@aura.ie or Kim McKenna at kmckenna@monaghancoco.ie

New Facebook Layout

March 30th, 2012
Comments Off

We are getting mixed feedback to the new Facebook timeline layout. On first impressions there seems like a lot is happening on the screen, particularly if you are logged in as an admin. However, there are a number of items such as notifications, Likes and Insights which are easier to see and follow. The new layout is coming into effect today so if you haven’t already published it should happen automatically.  We have published a few in the new timeline, with covers and welcome pages to give you an idea of how they look see below. If you have any questions on it email Claire at services@aura.ie

Happy St Patrick’s Day

March 15th, 2012
Comments Off

We’d like to wish everyone a Happy St Paddy’s Day! We are looking forward to the hailstones and high winds on Saturday, always a sure sign that Paddy’s Day is here and Summer is on the way…

A few things to look out for; ComReg has published its latest quarterly report, which shows that that 42.7pc of all mobile subscriptions in Ireland in the last quarter of 2011 were smartphone or tablet users. This is an increase on the period before and shows a continues increase in the use of mobile devices for internet access. Have you checked your website on a smart phone? If not now is a good time and plan for mobile usage growth in the next 6 months.

The Monaghan IT Forum is finalising details for its forth coming conference on IT in County Monaghan. We will be providing more information on this closer to the date – but keep the 9th of May free.

Momentum is growing on the ground for a Bizz Camp event in County Monaghan in the coming months, stay tuned for more updates, either through The Border Counties Forum on Linkedin or we will provide more information here closer to the date.
